Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic autoimmune disorder resulting in painful inflammation of the spine and joints in the shoulders, hips and knees. Autoimmune disorders and inflammatory conditions like this often occur as the result of exposure to vaccinations, medications, antibiotics, toxins in food, and toxins in the environment. Since this is a chronic inflammatory condition, a good start would be incorporating an anti-inflammatory diet and a lifestyle that supports healing. Start by switching to an organic, plant based diet with plenty of healthy fats like coconut oil. You’ll also want to avoid fried foods and meat because these will cause inflammation. Raw vegetables and fruits especially when juiced or blended will greatly reduce your symptoms and start healing your body. The most important part of the healing process will be chiropractic care to restore the normal structure and function of the spine. If you’ve seen my videos on arthritis reversal you already understand that conditions that involve the loss of disc height and arthritic changes in the joints all have to do with the structure and function of the spine. The intervertebral discs get their nutrients through imbibition (movement) so if the spine isn’t moving properly the disc can’t get the nutrients it needs to survive. If this continues over the course of many years you’ll see changes in the spine such as “Bamboo spine” for ankylosing spondylitis. Most doctors will cause this degeneration, however, it’s actually an intelligent response by the body. If the discs can’t get their nutrients to survive and function then they can’t maintain their role in spinal stabilization which is why the vertebra eventually fused together. So the major focus of chiropractic care should be to restore the health and function of the intervertebral discs.
